Career Outlook

students and faculty member working on computer

Our computer and electronic engineering technology (CEET) program is designed to prepare you for career success.

Alumni move on to become members of engineering teams in applied design, computer hardware and/or software development, programming, product development, manufacturing, or operations. They also work in technical services including computer network services, ELD engineering, marketing, and sales.

Our graduates work in wide range of industries using skills ranging from basic circuit theory and complex signals to systems and project management. Companies include Goodrich, Otis Elevator, Sikorsky, and Pratt & Whitney.

Robert Perusini ’20, M’22

BS in Computer and Electronic Engineering Technology, 2020

After impressively completing his program in just three years, Perusini is continuing his education at UHart to pursue a master's degree in electrical and computer engineering. He describes his undergraduate years at UHart as “excellent,” and is excited to begin work as a part-time laboratory instructor while pursuing his master's.

I can say truthfully with 100% certainty that if I had the opportunity to do it all over again I would attend the University again in a heartbeat, and I have no regrets about my decision to attend the University of Hartford.

Accreditation

The computer and electronic engineering technology program is accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, www.abet.org.

The computer and electronic engineering technology program is intended to give students the maximum flexibility in designing their professional education program; it offers a well-rounded professional education with an emphasis on hardware and programming of computer systems. The program prepares students to work on advanced hardware and network systems and includes additional technical and general education courses necessary for career advancement. Graduates of this program take positions as members of the engineering team in design, computer hardware and/or software development, programming, manufacturing, production, or operations. They also work in technical services including field engineering, marketing, and sales.

Computer and electronic engineering technology graduates will develop:

  • A commitment to lifelong learning, quality and continuous improvement through the clear ability to assume increasing levels of technical and/or management responsibility or through participation in professional societies, earning advanced degrees, receiving additional training or certifications.
  • The ability to contribute to engineering teams that design and/or support effective and efficient new products, systems and processes
  • Leadership skills while working on teams involved in the analysis, development, implementation, or oversight of computer and/or electronic systems and processes.

Upon completion of the computer and electronic engineering technology program, the successful graduate will have:

(1) an ability to apply knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline;

(2) an ability to design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline;

(3) an ability to apply written, oral, and graphical communication in broadly-defined technical and non-technical environments; and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature;

(4) an ability to conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments and to analyze and interpret the results to improve processes; and

(5) an ability to function effectively as a member as well as a leader on technical teams.
